Grant Making

Since 2000, SCF and our donors have invested more than $450,000 to help local nonprofit organizations and community groups make our area such a great place to live.

The dollars for our grants come from many sources. Some grants come from restricted component funds that are targeted to a specific issue, project, or organization. Others come from our General Fund or non-restricted component funds.

Applications for grants from the General Fund and non-restricted component funds are available in the Spring of each year. In addition to other criteria the SCF Board may determine from year to year, eligibility for these grants include:
  • grants funds must be for charitable or philanthropic purposes that agree with the Foundation’s mission;
  • recipients must be a 501(c)(3) organization or a governmental agency;
  • projects must primarily benefit Scott County or the communities in the surrounding area;
  • a maximum of $10,000 will be awarded per project;
  • grant funds may not be used to eliminate operating deficits or to retire debt;
  • capital campaigns, endowment programs, and political projects are not eligible for funding;
  • individuals and for-profit businesses are not eligible for funding; and
  • organizations that practice discrimination on the basis or race, color, creed, sex, age, or national origin are not eligible for funding.
